Pardon me, he had an amazing radio voice. A deep, nuanced, incredable radio voice. A voice you would never suspect capable of coming from the narrow-framed, skinny as a reed, Reid Collins. Perhaps that voice was the product of the product Reid had every day for lunch. This barely one hundred pound human drank his lunch. Not what you're thinking...It was a liquid diet drink. One day I screwed up the courage and confronted him. I asked, why such a skinny guy would constanty feel the need to contunually consume nothing but liqud diet drinks. "This just in," said Bill, smoothly but with a clear sense of urgency. "Joseph P. Kennedy, father of an ill-starred political dynasty, has died. More details as they become available." Back in the newsroom, however, AP (or was it UPI?) was running a retraction. The bulletin had been run in error. Rudy handed Bill the retraction just as he was going into his headline recap. "Repeating the top story," he said, solemnly. "Joseph P. Kennedy... is... not... dead. A bulletin heard earlier on WNEW was in error..."
