Marv Albert worked as the lead radio voice for New York Giants football on WNEW-AM in New York from 1973 to 1976, succeeding Marty Glickman after Marty started broadcasting for the New York Jets . He also worked as a sports anchor for WNBC-TV in New York during this time. Albert has called the play-by-play of eight Super Bowls, nine NBA Finals, and seven Stanley Cup Finals. He has also called the Wimbledon Tennis Championships for TNT, and has worked as a co-host and reporter for two World Series.

Marv was the play-by-play guy for the Knicks and Rangers during the late 1970s, when WNEW carried their games. He also did play-by-play for the Giants after Marty Glickman left and before Jim Gordon took over. One of the most enjoyable parts of my job as late-night newscaster was cutting highlights from the tape of Marv’s play-by-play. Occasionally, it fell to me to do pre- and post-game shows, and before the last game of the Knicks’ season one year, I devoted the pre-game show to some of Marv’s brilliant calls. When the pre-game show ended, I tossed it to Marv at the Garden, and without missing a beat, he cracked, “Thank you, Andy, and your check is in the mail!”
Pictures to go with the soundtrack of my life.
